Jetson Electric Bike Review – Jetson E bike Secrets Revealed

The Jetson electric bike is being advertised as a bike that’s been built with your needs and lifestyle in mind. The Jetson certainly looks good but how does it stack up when it comes to performance?

The Jetson actually does very well in terms of performance, so let’s start with a look at the features of the Jetson Lithium Ion Powered Eco-Friendly Electric Bike.

What Are The Main Features Of The Jetson Electric Bike?

This bike is powered by a lithium-ion battery that allows it to reach speeds of up to 20 miles per hour with a range of 40 miles per charge. Charging time is 4 hours on an 110V. One of the nice things about the Jetson is you can just take the battery out and charge it, so no need to drag the bike around every time you need to charge.

The 500W motor and the disc brake system respond well so if you need to stop or make turns, you don’t have to wrestle with the Jetson, and the addition of pedals increase its power.

Design wise the Jetson e bike is fully ergonomic from the seats to the handlebars. The multifunctional dashboard is just as helpful, and getting the electric bike running is a no-brainer. And yes this bike is 100% electric so no need to worry about gas emissions.

Once you have charged the battery the Jetson is ready to roll. There’s no need to get your hands dirty ether as the bike is 100% assembled, and if you’re wondering if this e-bike is street legal, yes it is.

The Jetson doesn’t just look good, but feels good as well. The hardware, the frame, the battery, the rear drum brake and the front disc rotor all feel like they are ready for the road.

The Jetson electric bike is available in 12 colors and is one of the most flexible we have seen yet. While the Jetson is one of the safest electric bikes today, you should still take all precautions like wearing a helmet and make sure to watch out for cars and other vehicles that might be close by.

How Powerful Is The Electric Motor?

The Jetson scooter is a not just another scooter as it offers more in terms of performance. The design is more like a Moped or Vespa but the specs (below 750 watts) allows it to be classified as a bicycle, and the inclusion of pedals further strengthens this classification. Legally and technically speaking, the Jetson can be used anywhere a bicycle with pedals is allowed.

The scooter rides smoothly thanks to the motor, and the combination of the locking seat-box, the durable tires, full suspension, the electronic horn and the turn signals enhance the design. While it is categorized as a bike, it’s more like a vehicle in terms of performance. Pedaling is possible, but the Jetson really shines as a comfortable, cost effective and efficient electric bike for one or two people.

The 500 watt motor is gearless, and this direct drive hub motor is integrated into the rear wheel. The motor is concealed in an aluminum alloy cast hub with spokes. The casing is tough and heavy, but it’s also sturdier than a regular spoked wheel. Overall the heavy casing is well done.

What are The Tires and Wheels Like?

The wheel is 18″, whereas regular bicycle wheels are 26″ and 28″. Under ordinary circumstances this results in attack angle reduction and the wheels ending up in pot holes and cracks, but these potential problems are overcome by the suspension and the 2.5″ tires which are wider than the average.

The tubes and tires are durable, and installing them isn’t that difficult as long as you follow the instructions. The extra thickness of the tires and the single speed means you don’t have to do a lot of tune ups.

This also works to your advantage in other ways: it makes the bike easier to clean and it helps the motor. Since the wheel is small, the motor stands to gain from the leverage boost as the wheel is turned. The net effect is the 500 W motor on the Jetson feels like it has double the power.

How Does The Battery Perform?

The whole thing is powered by the aforementioned 17 amp hour 48 volt lithium-ion battery pack. It is double the dimensions of a standard electric “bicycle”, and that’s understandable as the Jetson is about 50 lbs. heavier than a traditional electric bike. The battery is firmly locked in place while you’re riding and helps keep the frame weigh low and looking stylish.

A close look at the battery bay reveals the battery bay is tidy and well organized with the battery, safety switch and controller in their proper places. As mentioned earlier you can remove the battery for charging purposes, and there is even a handle built in to make this easier. The battery weighs around 20 lbs. and is on par with other batteries found on other electric bikes.

The hub casing serves as protection for the motor, the rear suspension arm and the plastic frame functions as protection for the battery. Bumps on the road and rattling can cause damage to the battery over time so the protective measures implemented by Jetson should help prolong its lifespan. The aforementioned kickstand is also there to serve as a balancer and protector of the e-bike.

Is The Console Easy To Use?

All quality e-bikes have a console, and the one on the Jetson is one of the best yet. The digital readout is easy on the eyes and doesn’t overwhelm with too much information, only the essential ones. The backlit design was a brilliant move as it allows you to read the data even if you go riding out at night.

The moment you put the key inside the ignition and go to “on”, the display light turns blue. Now you just need to twist the throttle and the display keeps you updated of all the numbers. The Jetson does not have the multiple modes or pedal assist that other electric bikes have, but the variable speed throttle does its job and is easy to use.

The handlebar is where you’ll find the horn buttons, turn signals and lights. These are the tools you’ll use when commuting on the scooter in a city bike lane, a bike path and streets where there may be cars. You may not see the need to use these features often, but it’s good to know they’re there. The inclusion of these safety features also doesn’t feel like they were simply added on but are actually effective.

How Does The Overall Performance Stack Up?

Riding the Jetson has a smooth feel to it, and performance isn’t affected even if there’s a passenger with you (provided you are both of average size). This isn’t a mountain electric bike, so don’t expect to climb up hills or navigate rough terrain. However it does well on roads and can travel quite a good distance with its 40 mile range.

The Jetson motor hums along fine while it’s running, and there is no reason to doubt the motor’s longevity since it doesn’t have any gears. Instead of gears there are sizable magnets that manage electricity. The Jetson motor should function without a hitch, but in the event it overheats, the bike will shut down automatically and turn back on when the unit has cooled down.

Jetson Electric Bike

What really sets the Jetson apart from the rest is the ease with which you can ride it. As long as it’s charged up you just need to insert the key and off you go. This e-bike helps you get away from traffic, so this is a good choice for office workers, and if you’re a student gives you the perfect opportunity to make it to class on time. With cars your options are limited, but the e-bike offers you the chance to look for shortcuts. Whether it’s going to work, school or just cruising, the Jetson will get you there.

The Jetson can be overclocked to reach 25 mph, but that may require a license and registration in some states. This bike does have a license plate mounting bracket on the back that lights up.

The Jetson bike has a lot of things going for it, but to focus on the most important ones:
Street legal: the US Federal Law concerning the legality of these electric bikes are on the battery, so if someone questions you while on the road, just show them what the law says.

Beautiful design: the body is plastic but durable, and it conceals the battery, and it does so better than other e-bikes.

There’s sufficient rider protection with its front and rear fenders. The front is wider compared to a bicycle, and it comes with horn (can be switched on both sides of the bars), and the front and rear lights have a bright mode. Lastly, the double-legged kickstand is very sturdy.

The Jetson doesn’t scrimp on security features either. The ignition requires a key and there’s a locking seat storage bay too. The controller also has a security switch close by so you can prevent anyone from messing with it.

The Jetson is comfortable, plain and simple. The front and rear suspension are both heavy duty, and combine that with the generously sized tires and you’ll still feel comfortable even when negotiating pot holes and bumps. The seat is padded for extra comfort, and going for an upright rather than aforward aggressive feel works nicely in its favor.

The bike has a one year warranty and customer service is good. The feedback from customers is positive as well so that should give you confidence.

The variable speed twist throttle works intuitively. This is a common feature in electric bikes, but Jetson did a good job with its implementation. If you want to go faster, twist more, that’s it.
The kickstand is really well-designed and comes with a built in prop bar to keep the Jetson stable. This is a useful and practical feature given the weight it is supporting.

We mentioned this earlier but it’s worth mentioning again: the battery pack is detachable. Removing the battery reduces the bike weight by 20 lbs. What’s more, you can charge the battery even if it is not on the frame. For best results, store this in neutral temperatures and don’t allow the charge to drop below 20%.

The Jetson tires are thicker compared to regular bikes, but they’re narrow enough for most bike racks.

The backlit display is very clear and displays all the essential information like remaining battery left, odometer and speed. Backlit displays are common in these e-bikes, but the quality is simply better with this one.

The Jetson is an excellent e-bike, but it’s not perfect. If you’re interested in buying this product, you should be aware of the potential drawbacks.

The folding pedals are plastic, and while they’re sturdy could have been better designed.

The Jetson weighs 125 lbs. (56.7 kg) is heavier than most other electric bikes. This isn’t an issue most of the time, but it could be if you are repairing or transporting it.

There are no pedal assist modes here, only the twist throttle.

The Jetson eco friendly electric bike is not just friendly to the environment but riders as well. The bike handles well and while it doesn’t have a lot of features, has what it takes so you can cruise in comfort and style. This is a well-packaged electric bike that offers good value for your money and we highly recommended this.
